a little trail action?

i just had a really nice talk with a guy i just met.  that doesn’t sound right, but i think it is.

we were talking about biking’s early years in gallup – specifically, McGaffey.  it must have been pretty cool to be a part of actually cutting trails up there – before biking was even sort of big in town.

last i heard (from a very reliable source, no less), signage was on the way for some of the McGaffey trails, we should probably do a story on it in the magazine at some point . . . won’t it be awesome to be able to send tourists up to the forest and have them be able to follow some marked trails?

right now, i feel like i just tell people to go to mile marker three and then kind of go between these two big trees and you’ll see the singletrack and eventually if you stay on the correct trail you’ll get to this tank (that is, a pond) where you can take a rest and then take turkey’s nest – which is across this rickety wooden bridge and . . . . you get the picture, it’s tough to explain.

but the trails are stellar and need to be ridden.

i’m supposed to be having a cup of coffee with the rico boys any time now . . . we’ll see if they actually call this time around.

talk to you tomorrow.
